Northwest 28, Manual 7
Junior tailback Teddy Dunbar rushed for 121 yards on 17 carries
as Northwest (2-4) topped Manual (1-5) 28-7 Saturday in the
first game of PeyBack Classic II in the RCA Dome. On Northwest's
first offensive play, Dunbar went 51 yards to put the Pioneers
in front 7-0. Northwest junior Michael Durrett scored the
next two touchdowns of the game. The first was a 66-yard interception
return with a 1:52 remaining in the first quarter. The second
was an 11-yard touchdown to give Northwest a 21-0 lead with
2:09 remaining in the first half. Northwest forced eight Manual
turnovers.
Scecina 35, Tech 14
Scecina (5-1) defeated Tech (0-6) 35-14 Saturday in the second
game of PeyBack Classic II in the RCA Dome. The Crusaders
opened scoring with a Tyran Thompson three-yard TD run in
the first quarter to take a 7-0. Tech battled back in the
second quarter, scoring on quarterback Adrian Taylor's 24-yard
pass to James Washington, bringing the Titans within one at
halftime. The two-point conversion failed. Scecina then pulled
away in the third quarter scoring four touchdowns, including
junior running back Joey Grant's 86-yard kick off return.
Crusader senior running back Tyran Thompson rushed for 111
yards on 21 carries.
Broad Ripple 50, Arlington 38
Broad Ripple (5-1) upended Arlington (4-2) 50-38 in a high
scoring match-up in the final game of PeyBack Classic II Saturday
in the RCA Dome. The Arlington Knights struck first on a 14-yard
run by senior running back Jason Bell and led 8-0 at the end
of the first quarter. The Broad Ripple Rockets came back in
the second quarter scoring four touchdowns, including an 80-yard
interception return by senior Chris Willis with 0:09 left
in the half. The Knights ran in three touchdowns in the fourth
quarter, but a 21-yard touchdown pass from Robert Thomas to
Austin Highball sealed the game for the Rockets with 1:52
left in the fourth quarter.
