Peyton
Manning hosted the 6th annual PeyBack Bowl on Monday, August 18 at
Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis. The event raised over $380,000 for the PeyBack
Foundation to benefit children at risk. The PeyBack Bowl partners local and
national celebrities with corporate sponsors for an evening of bowling featuring
great prizes for the top teams and individual bowlers and a sports memorabilia
auction with numerous one-of-a-kind items.
Celebrities in attendance included Tony Dungy (Indianapolis Colts Head Coach),
Jim O’Brien (Indiana Pacers Head Coach), Scott Dixon (IRL Driver), Sam Hornish,
Jr., (NASCAR Driver), as well as several Pacers players and Colts players
including Marvin Harrison, Bob Sanders, and Dallas Clark.
Also in
attendance, to accept the annual PeyBack Award from Peyton was Gale Sayers, NFL
Hall of Famer and former Chicago Bears Running Back. The PeyBack Award is
presented each year by the PeyBack Foundation to someone currently or formerly
involved in professional football who exhibits character, integrity, honor, and
who has given back to the game and society.
The
event included a dinner buffet provided by Ruth’s Chris Steak House and
beverages courtesy of Budweiser and Zink Distributing. Prizes were courtesy of
Sony and Reis-Nichols. Sport Graphics printing was the official printer of the
PeyBack Bowl.
The
winning 2008 PeyBack Bowl team with a combined 2 game total of 2152 was Markey’s
Rental and Staging. Each member of the winning team took home a 46” Sony BRAVIA
LCD Flat Panel HDTV and a Colts helmet autographed by Peyton Manning. Reggie
Wayne, bowling for the Reebok team, was the highest celebrity bowler with a
2-game score of 355. Hermy Richardson with Markey’s Rental and Staging was the
highest sponsor bowler with a 2-game score of 476. Both top individual bowlers
also won 46” Sony BRAVIA LCD televisions.
