Photo Courtesy of The Indianapolis Star  More Than 8,000 Turn Out For Peyback Classic III   Article Archived: 9/30/2002 PeyBack Classic III was played Saturday at the RCA Dome with a crowd of more than 8,000 in attendance for the four games. The event was organized by Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning's PeyBack Foundation, Indiana Sports Corporation (ISC) and Indiana Black Expo (IBE). It was another great day for the IPS schools at the RCA Dome, said Peyton Manning, who attended the games at the RCA Dome. The event provides the seven Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) high schools and Scecina Memorial the opportunity to play in the RCA Dome. Prior to the varsity games, Washington and Howe met in a freshman game. Proceeds from the event are donated to the athletic programs of the participating IPS schools. The presenting sponsors of the event were American Family Insurance, EDS Indiana, Huntington Bank, Marsh Supermarkets and St. Vincent Hospital. Additional organizations were associate sponsors of the 2002 event. Gatorade, Rawlings, and Sport Graphics, Inc. were the official suppliers. I can't thank everyone enough for all their support, Manning said. A special thanks goes to all of our sponsors who made this possible. They understand that the PeyBack Classic is about a lot more than football. The event was preceded by an evening with Peyton Manning at the Union Federal Football Center on Friday. Manning roamed the sidelines during the early game, hearing from the players about their experience. Manning visited the Broad Ripple and Arlington lockerroom before their game. This is a really exciting day for these kids, Manning said. I could see the look in their eyes that they were ready to roll. It was nice to see the freshman from Washington and Howe get the opportunity to play today. This is a great experience for these kids, something they will never forget.
