PeyBack Foundation Executive Director, Elizabeth Ellis, attended the 20th Annual Assistance League of Indianapolis Gala Celebration on Saturday, April 9 at the Ritz Charles to accept the 2011 Star Award. The PeyBack Foundation was recognized by the Assistance League of Indianapolis for the ongoing financial support provided through grants to the Operation School Bell program since 2001. During the past 10 years, the PeyBack Foundation has awarded 10 individual grants to the Assistance League totaling $59,500 to help purchase clothing, shoes, and supplies given to elementary students in Marion County through the Operation School Bell program.
Operation School Bell began in the 1984-85 school year and to date has provided clothing and school supplies to over 32,084 Indianapolis school children. From mid-August through November, children referred by school personnel in Marion County are bused to the Service Center for Indianapolis Public Schools and chaperoned by school personnel. In the special Operation School Bell ”shop” Assistance League members act as personal shoppers, one-on-one with each child, allowing the child to select from an array of colors and styles of new clothing and coats in their size. All of these items are placed in a new duffle bag, along with hygiene supplies, school supplies, and two age-appropriate books.
The PeyBack Foundation is proud to support organizations like The Assistance League of Indianapolis in their efforts to provide opportunities for success to disadvantaged youth.

The organization of dedicated volunteers continued to expand its community service and refine its philanthropic philosophy. In 1935, a national organization, National Assistance League®, was formed with the vision of a nationwide effort to carry the principles of Assistance League to other cities.
